Chris Koch’s abstractions are a journey into the unknown.
Through constant adventure, experimentation, and meditation he distills the recurring patterns and symbols that constitute our universe into new and unseen pictures. He has developed his own form of action painting dubbed “Liquid Sculpture” using a mixture of acrylic paint, water, and other matter, in which he “pours” onto the canvas. Koch prefers painting on larger canvases and does not use an easel.
Chris Koch hails from Louisville, KY, and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2012 with a major in marketing and minor in art studio. In 2015, he moved to Portland, Oregon where he currently lives and works.
